Short description of the project
The project will be implemented in the Baltic Sea region by 8
non-governmental organizations from Latvia, Russia (the Kaliningrad
region), Belarus, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Denmark and Norway.
The objective is to deepen the understanding of the role of civil
society and to empower the NGOs to contribute to the strengthening
of equal opportunities for women and men by using the European
Pillar of Social Rights and other social rights' instruments.
A conference, 2 seminars, 4 workshops, 8 local events and an
evaluation meeting, as well as drafting the brochure consisting of
NGO experts' proposals on equal opportunities in education, social
and health care, entrepreneurship and in media will take place in
the countries.
These activities will improve the knowledge of the target group - 16
NGO experts, 28 participants and 8 decision-makers, as well as
strengthen the partners' capacity regarding advocacy in
decision-making.
The planned project budget is 536.004 DKK (71825 EUR), co-funding of
the Nordic Council of Ministers 349.350 DKK (46813 EUR) included.

Status Report 01/11/2019 - 25/11/2020
The project was implemented in the Baltic Sea region by 8 NGOs from
Latvia, Kaliningrad region, Belarus, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia,
Denmark and Norway. The Status Report is prepared for the period
01/11/2019 30/04/2020, during which the relevant activities were
performed and planned to be performed; then it was not possible to
continue the activities due to the emergency situation in the
Baltic.
With the Activity 2, that took place 22-23 November 2019 in Riga,
the understanding of the role of civil society has deepen and the
NGOs contribution to the strengthening of equal opportunities for
women and men has empowered by using the EPSR and other social
rights instruments: WRI project opening, the conference Reference
Budgets and reducing inequalities. Ready? and the Partner Meeting
of NGO experts and decision makers on project objectives was
organized by WRI. 16 experts from all partner organizations, 6
decision-makers and 18 NGO participants from Latvia participated in
Rigas meetings.
On January-February a seminar of NGO participants and
decision-makers on EPSR was planned to organize in Kaliningrad,
Russia as Activity 3; the dates of 18-20 March 2020 were approved.
The implementation of the Activity 3 did not take place due to the
above circumstances.

Discussion of
the Latvian TV programme
On November 21st in Riga, Laila Balga, Chairwoman of the Board of
Women's Rights Institute, and Aldona Droseikiene, Secretary General
of the Lithuanian Multiple Sclerosis Union, participated in the live
broadcast of the Latvian TV program "Dot the is" (in Russian).
Specialists from the Ombudsman, Latvian Ministry of Welfare, Latvian
Employers' Confederation and Riga Stradins University also
participated in this discussion. The topic of this discussion was
related to providing income for the vulnerable groups of population
in Latvia and Lithuania.
