Summary of survey and local workshop of NGO
educators on creating innovative courses for disadvantaged groups in
Estonia
The local workshop was implemented in July 6-7, 2023, in Tallinn,
Estonia, by partner Eesti People to People, led by Ruta Pels,
President, Project Manager.
The activity increased the competencies of 22 NGO educators in the
field of social inclusion and education. The target group of this
activity was NGO educators - staff, experts and volunteer
specialists with various ages (20-75), Estonian nationality - 19,
Ukrainien nationality - 3, both sexes (14 women, 8 men), persons
with low-income (19), persons with high educational level (higher -
20, secondary - 2). However, every target group member's level of
education and previous experience in promoting non-formal adult
education are key determinants for them to participate and expand
their knowledge in this activity, then pass on their knowledge to
the members of their organization, especially to the most vulnerable
people.
This workshop was addressed issues related to the use of the
understanding and knowledge of NGO employees to create innovative
courses for disadvantaged groups of population with the aim of
promoting the further education or employment of these people.
Through informative materials and discussions, EPTP educators
Ruta Pels, Pavel Smulski, Katerina Karachun and
Sara Kaidar shared their experiences of the situation within the
NGOs and put together proposals that will contribute to the creating
innovative courses for disadvantaged groups in Estonia. This
workshop also provided an opportunity to involve in the discussion
the participants with less experience in the programs offered by
Erasmus+ and in the context of the European dimension. Attracting
educated professionals to the NGO network will be an important tool
for increasing people's well-being in Estonia.
The results of the workshop were evaluated in the end of the
workshop and no less than three proposals of the participants were
summarized.
