International Conference of NGO Educators for
Social Inclusion. Project assessment
The content of this conference was aimed at raising awareness,
compiling information and passing it on to the NGO educators in
connection with the promotion of social inclusion, particularly with
regard to the needs of disadvantaged groups in the public
environment, to which the NGOs contribute. The program of this
conference was based on the information gathered by partners through
international events in Estonia, Latvia, Sweden and Greece, by
conducting surveys of disadvantaged groups and by organizing local
workshops on social inclusion, gender equality, innovative training
courses, digital environment and advocacy issues. The operational
nature of the partners (the NGO networks) makes it necessary to
inform other partners and discuss the capacity of organizations with
fewer opportunities to achieve their goals. The conference
activities covered topics related to the provision of knowledge and
skills to the NGO educators for working in the non-governmental
sector.
From June 7 to 11, 2023, the International Conference of NGO
educators took place in Florence, Italy, it was organized by
Coordinamento Toscano Marginalita, led by Jacopo Lascialfari,
Director, Project Manager.
This conference addressed issues related to building capacity of
each organization and network as a whole to support the social
inclusion of an individual, while paying particular attention to the
disadvantaged groups of population. Through informative materials
and discussions, NGO educators from Latvia, Estonia, Sweden, Italy
and Greece - Lucia Scarlato, Giulia Morigoni,
Giorgio Gabriele, Jacopo Lascialfari, Ingmarie Rohdin,
Asa Hedlin Olsson, Inga-Lill Rohdin, Ruta Pels,
Leonid Smulskiy, Pavel Smulski, Spyros Psychas,
Kitija Bite and Olga Karklina, as well as 20
stakeholders from Italy - shared their experiences and put together
proposals that will contribute to the improvement of the socially
inclusive environment and the inclusion process - both in the
partner countries and across Europe.
From the activity results, NGO educators from partner organizations'
networks were going to benefit: they are staff members, experts and
volunteer specialists, a total of 33 participants. They are people
of different ages (27-65), nationalities (5), both sexes (15 women,
18 men), with large family (1), pensioners (5). However, each target
group member's level of education (30 - higher education) and
previous experience in promoting non-formal adult education are key
determinants for them to participate and expand their knowledge in
this activity.
This conference also provided an opportunity to share practical
experiences related to successful social inclusion in the four
Italian organisations / institutions, which was provided by the
partner CTM.
At the end of this conference the achieved results were evaluated
and summarized.
