Local workshop of NGO educators on raising
awareness of digital environment for disadvantaged groups in Latvia
The local workshop was implemented in 23 and 24 August 2023 in
Dagda, Latvia, by partner EAPN-Latvia in cooperation with NGO
"In-Tan-San", led by Sandra Drozdova, Manager.
The activity increased the competence of 16 NGO educators in the
field of social inclusion. The target group of this activity was NGO
educators - staff, experts and volunteer specialists with various
ages (23-70), Latvian nationality (10), Russian nationality (3),
Belarusian nationality (1), Ukrainian nationality (1), Polish
nationality (1), both sexes (14 women, 2 men), persons with
low-income (5), an unemployed person (1), persons with disabilities
(5), pensioners (4), persons with different educational level
(higher - 4, professional - 8, secondary school - 3, elementary
school - 1). However, every target group member's level of education
and previous experience in promoting non-formal adult education are
key determinants for them to participate and expand their knowledge
in this activity, then pass on their knowledge to the members of
their organization, especially to the most vulnerable people.
The content of this workshop was aimed at raising awareness of
digital environment for disadvantaged groups. The participants
discussed the capacity of the network for people to increase their
digital competences and the needs of media literacy. Through
informative materials and discussions, EAPN-Latvia educator
Margarita Zavnercika shared her experience and presented new
digital and media literacy challenges in the social integration
policy. This workshop also provided an opportunity to involve in the
discussion the participants with less experience in the digital
education programs offered by Erasmus+. Attracting educated
professionals to the NGO network will be an important tool for
increasing people's well being in the region of Latvia.
The results of the workshop were evaluated and no less two proposals
of the participants were summarized.
